After writing this email, I was advised by the chair of the search committee to consult the hiring manual of our university, regarding the official transcripts of foreign universities. Our policy manual states that, in lieu of official transcripts, we can accept letters certifying the completion of degrees, if they are prepared on university letterhead and prepared or signed by an appropriate administrator and carry a university seal. Thus, if your university does not issue transcripts (or it is a problem to get them), we can possibly accept other documents in lieu of transcripts. I am new at this process and did not know that last evening, when I sent the email asking for official transcripts. Our goal is make our position accessible to you, not to create barriers to entry.
