Difference Between Academic Audit and Academic Review
When country's primary regulator authority of Education (In most countries it is said to be Higher Education Commission - HEC) conduct an subject-level/course-level review/audit of any Educational Institution in their country then the said audit/review is called to be an Academic Review/Audit. The motto of this audit/review is to maintain quality and effectiveness of studied material at all the Educational Institutions in a country.
In addition, in some countries the HEC or regulator authority of Education is also conducted Administrative Audit/Review of all Educational Institutions in their country to maintain quality and effectiveness of the administrative process and procedure at all the Educational Institution in a country.
As per the difference between review and audit is concerned, it is already cleared in earlier communication that the scope of Review is lower than an Audit.
Difference Between Science and Technology
When you hear the term science, it is typically associated with the term technology – especially when the two are talked about as subjects in school. Although these two terms are often interchanged, there is actually a sparse difference between the two.
Perhaps the best way to differentiate science and technology, is to have a quick definition of each term. Science is a systematic knowledge base, where a series of steps is followed in order to reliably predict the type of outcome. It can be broadly defined as the study of things with branches like biology, chemistry, physics and psychology.
Technology, on the other hand, is more of an applied science. It is where tools and knowledge are used for the study of a particular science. For example, the science of energy can have technology as its application. In the case of energy as a subject in science, solar panels can be used for a variety of technologies, an example of which are solar-powered lights.
If the goal of science is the pursuit of knowledge for science’s sake, technology aims to create systems to meet the needs of people. Science has a quest of explaining something, while technology is leaning more towards developing a use for something.
Science focuses more on analysis, generalizations and the creation of theories – while with technology, it focuses more on analysis and synthesis of design. Science is controlled by experimentation, while technology also involves design, invention and production. If science is all about theories, technology is all about processes. Finally, in order for you to excel in science, you need to have experimental and logical skills. Meanwhile, technology requires a myriad of skills including design, construction, testing, quality assurance and problem-solving.
Summary:
1. Science is the study of a particular subject, while technology is an applied science.
2. Science is focused more on analysis, while technology is all about the synthesis of design.
3. Science is all about theories, while technology is all about processes
Difference Between People and Persons
"people" is a collective noun, and it is used to refer to a group of people collectively
These people are a community.
"persons" is the plural form of "person" when you want to refer to a number of people individually.
These persons are part of a community.
Note: The word "people" can also be used as a singular noun and pluralized:
That native people has died out.
The invention was worked on by many peoples from all over the world.
Thus, a list can be made:
Person (A person)
Persons (A group of persons individually)
People (A group of persons as a unit)
OR
People (A specific group of persons)
Peoples (Multiple groups of persons)
The use of the word "persons" nowadays is being shifted towards "People". The word "persons" is seldom heard even though it is often gramatically correct (i.e. Four people died is wrong. Four persons died is correct).
Nobody will punish you for using "people" instead of "persons" in most cases, though.
Difference Between Democrat and Republican
A Democrat and a Republican differ in many ways, especially in their philosophy, ideas, worldview and politics. A Democrat is considered to be generally liberal whereas a Republican is known to be conservative.
While a Democrat generally believes in a larger federal government, the Republican do not believe in such a concept. The Democrat believes that the government should look towards the greater good for the welfare of the people, irrespective of individual interests. They always tend to see the people as equal.
The Republican holds economic equity on top than any other thing. They believe that all answers lay with the people rather than with the government. The Republican wants less governmental interference and strongly believes in property rights rather than believing in welfare rights.
Democrat looks towards equality under a federal government and a Republican looks towards people looking after themselves. A Democrat stands for government-supported programs like healthcare and giving government subsidies to business, schools and hospitals, which means levying more taxes. A Republican wants decisions to be made at the state level with less government involvement.
When the Democrat thinks federal government to be supreme and believes that every idea should originate from it, the Republican believes in capitalism and free market.
A Democrat wants the right to legislate equality and a Republican want the right to earn equality. A Democrat’s stance will always be to enhance his position with special interest groups and a Republican always chooses a stance that he believes to be correct.
While the Democrat stands more for community, community responsibility and social justice, the Republic is for individual responsibility, individual rights and individual justice.
Another difference between a Democrat and a Republican is that the former as a party tends to be pro-choice and the other one tends to be pro-life. When a Democrat favours social policies at the federal level, a Republican favours the policies at the state level.
While a Democrat is considered to be on the ‘left†end of the political spectrum, the Republican is believed to be on the “right” end.
One can also come across many ideological differences between the two. Some examples are that when the Democrat believes in decreasing military finance, the Republican wants to increase military budget. When the democrat wants women’s right to be legalised, the Republican does not want it to be legalised.
Difference Between Image and Picture
IMAGE - An image of yourself or anyone (Usually taken through Camera)
PICTURE - A Picture is to draw something in the computer/real life.
Difference Between 1G, 2G, 2.5G, 3G, Pre-4G and 4G
1G is the first generation cellular network that existed in 1980s. It transfer data (only voice) in analog wave, it has limitation because there are no encryption, the sound quality is poor and the speed of transfer is only at 9.6kbps.
2G is the second one, improved by introducing the concept of digital modulation, which means converting the voice (only) into digital code (in your phone) and then into analog signals(imagine that it flies in the air). Being digital, they overcame some of the limitations of 1G, such as it omits the radio power from handsets making life more healthier, and it has enhanced privacy.
2.5G is a transition of 2G and 3G. In 2.5G, the most popular services like SMS (short messaging service), GPRS, EDGE, High Speed Circuit switched data, and more had been introduced.
3G is the current generation of mobile telecommunication standards. It allows simultaneous use of speech and data services and offers data rates of up to 2 Mbps, which provide services like video calls, mobile TV, mobile Internet and downloading. There are a bunch of technologies that fall under 3G, like WCDMA, EV-DO, and HSPA and others.
In telecommunications, 4G is the fourth generation of cellular wireless standards. It is a successor to the 3G and 2G families of standards. In 2008, the ITU-R organization specified the IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced) requirements for 4G standards, setting peak speed requirements for 4G service at 100 Mbit/s for high mobility communication (such as from trains and cars) and 1 Gbit/s for low mobility communication (such as pedestrians and stationary users)
A 4G system is expected to provide a comprehensive and secure all-IP based mobile broadband solution to laptop computer wireless modems, smartphones, and other mobile devices. Facilities such as ultra-broadband Internet access, IP telephony, gaming services, and streamed multimedia may be provided to users.
PRE-4G technologies such as mobile WiMAX and Long term evolution (LTE) have been on the market since 2006 and 2009 respectively, and are often branded as 4G. The current versions of these technologies did not fulfill the original ITU-R requirements of data rates approximately up to 1 Gbit/s for 4G systems. Marketing materials use 4G as a description for LTE and Mobile-WiMAX in their current forms.
Difference Between Fruit Juice and Fruit Nectar
We all know that fruit juice is the fresh juice extracted from the pulp of fruits and we expect to get just that when we buy a bottle of cold drink labeled as a fruit drink. Those who have some knowledge of botany know that nectar is a sweet liquid secreted by flowers that attract pollinating insects. But in beverage industry, nectar has come to mean a type of non-carbonated soft drink made with fresh juice. It is differentiated with any drink that has been labeled as fruit juice by the industry as it is not 100% fruit juice, and can and does contain many other ingredients including water, sweeteners, and preservatives. There are no industry standards and so you can have a fruit nectar having fruit juice from anywhere in the range of 0-100%. Fruit juice on the other hand is a natural drink prepared by crushing the pulp of a fresh fruit. It contains no preservatives and flavors.
Difference Between Explore and Discover
You can't explore an island before you've discovered it.
You generally won't discover gold or oil unless you explore for it.
Basically, "explore" means to look for something (oil, gold), or look around (island) while "Discover" means to find something - uncover it.
Example: Captain Cook didn't discover Australia, the Dutch discovered it 170 years earlier. But Captian Cook explored its western coasts in great detail.
Difference Between Round, Circle and Eclipse
Round:
The shape of a closed curve with no sharp corners, such as an ellipse, circle or rounded rectangle etc.
Circle
Circle is type of Round whose have fixed radius.
It means that all circles are Round shape but not all Round shares are circle.
Like CD-Rom Circle Shape
Eclipse
Ellipse is also a type of Round where the set of all points in a shape whose sum of the distance from each of two distinct points is constant
It means all eclipse are round but not all round are eclipse.
For Example: Egg has Eclipse Shape
Example of General Round Shape with no Circle and Ellipse qualities
Difference Between War and Battle
War is a term that applies to military conflict between two or more countries which transpire over months or years.
Battle is a term that applies to a localized military conflict between two enemy armies or smaller military units that occur on 1 or more days.
Difference Between Then and Than
Then is used to indicate time, as in:
I will go to the store, then I will come home.
Than is used to make a comparison, as in:
I like chocolate more than vanilla.
Difference Between Football and Soccer
Football is one of the most popular sports in the whole world. We know how enthralled the whole world is when the Football World Cup starts. But then what is soccer? Many say that both words refer to the same game, while some say that both are different games. The truth is that both the games are different while having some similarities.
Football is actually the common name of all those sport which involve the use of the foot and ball to score goals. This term can be applied to any form of football. Some of the different types of football games are association football, gridiron football, Australian football, rugby, and Gaelic football. The game association football is what is commonly known as soccer.
Usually in football, there are two teams of 11 to 18 players, who play within a specified area. To score points, each team has to move the ball over to the opponent team’s field end, either over a specific line or in to a goal area. In soccer, similar to most of the football games, it is played on a field with two teams. The ball has to be moved into the opponent team’s goal area by kicking it. Sometimes, in a game, the use of torso or head to move the ball is used. In this game, only the goalkeepers have the right to use the hands and arm to stop the ball.
For each game there is a certain conduct in which the ball is to be moved. It can be by carrying, kicking, using the whole body, or passing the ball. Soccer uses the method of kicking the ball into the goal area. It is not allowed in the game for the players to use their hands to move the ball.
The scoring nature of the different games in football is common. The team which scores the maximum goals at the end of a match is declared the winner. And if there is a tie, penalty shootouts can be given to the teams or declare the game a draw.
The shape of the ball also differs in the games. In soccer, the ball used is a sphere. This kind of ball is used in Gaelic football also. In other football games like rugby and American football, the ball has more rounded ends. The ball for Canadian and American Football has two pointed ends.
In the United Kingdom, the terms football and soccer refer to the same thing while in United States, soccer and football are two different games. The football there is more like the rugby and the players wear the armor to protect themselves from getting hurt. And in soccer, the teams use the feet to kick the ball around, and do not wear any armors.
Summary:
1. Football is the term used for many common games under the umbrella, while soccer is just one among them.
2. In different football games, the players can use the hands, feet, or whole body to move the ball, while in soccer only the feet can be used.
3. Soccer uses sphere balls, while other football games used rounded or pointed balls depending on the format of the game.
