The Department of Commerce, Sri Krishna Arts and Science College, is proud to present a two-day convening forum for knowledge sharing and learning on best practices in Corporate Governance.
“Corporate Governance refers to the set of systems, principles and processes by which a company is governed. They provide the guidelines as to how the company to be managed or controlled. Corporate Governance adds value to company to fulfill its goals and objectives. It is beneficial for all stakeholders in the long term.”
Conference Overview
‘In the present days, there has been a growing need to efficiently managing the company in order to compete globally. Many changes are taking place in the Global emerging economy. A rising economy is always robust with regulations and legal framework, and India is not an exception to this. The underlying objective of Corporate Governance is the enhancement of the shareholders value, keeping in view the interest of other stakeholders.’ In fact, Corporate Governance is an endeavour to become a model corporate citizen. Corporate Governance translate into conducting the affairs of a Company in a manner that ensures fairness to customers, employees, shareholders, fund providers, suppliers, the regulators and the society as a whole.
In addition, competing in the International business arena requires good leadership, as it is what Corporate Governance is all about. While mergers and joint ventures are on the cards for many local institutions to achieve economies of scale and greater corporate synergy. There are also government initiatives to help SMEs meeting the challenge of the global emerging competition. Nevertheless, those who truly emerge as winners are those who are able to crave out a niche for themselves in the industry. The Companies Act, 2013 has introduced good Corporate Governance leading to more transparent, ethical and fair business practice to be adopted by Corporate at large.
Aim
The conference theme is "Corporate Governance - Does it make a difference in India?". The objective of this conference is to raise the awareness of Corporate Governance practices in India and evaluate the impact of the Companies Act 2013 on Corporate Governance practices. Papers should be based on empirical research or real life case studies. Participants are also encouraged to contribute new ideas, concepts and paradigm under any of the themes or other related areas.

Abstracts, Paper Submission and Deadlines
Detailed abstracts of about 500 words should be submitted not later than 1thDecember 2013. All abstracts should show the name of the authors, their institutional affiliation, contact details (including full address, telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address). The abstract should be presented in word format and should also include not more than 5 keywords with JEL classification. By submitting an abstract the author(s) makes a commitment to present his/her paper at the Conference. Full paper must be submitted on or before 10thDecember 2013. The paper should be presented in APAformat. Selected papers will be published in book with ISBN number. Notification of accepted papers will be sent within 5 days from the receiving date. All abstracts will be peer reviewed.
About the College
Sri Krishna Arts and Science College (Autonomous) is established by the VLB Trust in the year 1997. It is situated in a serene and calm atmosphere surrounded by hillocks conducive for peaceful learning. The college has been accredited by NAAC with “A” Grade. The mission of the college is to prepare both boys and girls for the global challenges of tomorrow keeping in mind the need to shape and mould a generation of young men and women with knowledge, character, genuinely cultivated sprit of service and far reaching imagination.
About the Department
The Department of Commerce envisages the life time value of the students by inspiring the value for education, entrepreneurial skills, business traits, leadership qualities, research eccentricity and ethics among the students. The department organized social networking, debates, ad-round, leadership talk, societal work, seminars, poster presentation, and national level conference. The department offers B.Com, B.Com (CA), B.Com (IT), B.Com(PA), B.Com (BPS), B.Com(CM) M.Com, MIB, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes. The Department is having tie-up with Tata Consultancy Services and Bombay Stock Exchange.

Registration Charges:
The conference is organized by Students Association of Commerce Department. Hence the fee has been limited to ` 350 for students and for others `450*. *Registration fees should be paid in cash at the Conference venue.
