CORPORATE VOICE Vikas Gupta Director - Talent Deloitte India He spoke about the aspirations and attitudes of the flexi-employee. He stated that any change in this sector has to be brought about by the corporates. He talked about the lack of skilled resources in many industries such as healthcare and construction, about the lack of faculty in engineering colleges leading to their shutting down. Mr Gupta pointed out that flexi-organizations need to look at education and how they can help. He went on to consider the ‘stigma’ attached to the industry and wondered why such was the case because attrition is an accepted way of life in the corporate world and most people change jobs every few years especially in their 20s. He strongly felt that if the staffing industry can grow in the USA from 10% to 40%, then India can follow suit.
Source Indian Staffing Federation, National Conclave 2014 "Indian Inc.oves towards Flexi staffing" | STAFFING INDUSTRY VOICE | Vikram D Wadhawan Director Maven Workforce Pvt. Ltd.Shared his views on estimated industry growth of IT staffing industry in the next 5 years. IT staffing market in India will be noticing strong growth in next 5 years with revenues to reach approximately over USD 2 billion. Also, Temporary staffing is fast emerging as a key hiring strategy for Indian companies. At present, temporary staff is hardly 1% or 1.5% of the total workforce of any company's strength in India but it will grow up by around 30-40% every year. IT staffing alone accounts for approx 66 percent by value and 35 percent by volume of the entire staffing industry and is the fastest growing segment. By 2020, temp staffing in the IT sector could increase to 20 per cent from 10 per cent currently.
Mr. Wadhawan views on changing dynamics of the temp staffing industry.
Since Temporary staffing is fast emerging as a key hiring strategy for Indian companies therefore, contractual /temporary resources account for 10% to 15% of the actual employee base of leading IT companies now against 2% to 5% few years back. This percentage is yet again expected to rise to 20% to 25% in the coming years. | |
